The structure of the 2013-2014 school year is one of the "hottest" topics of the moment in the field of education. The Ministry of Education has published in the Official Gazette the order of the minister regarding the structure of the school year 2013-2014.

Changes and news in the structure of the 2013-2014 school year

  • Approximately equal division of the two school semesters. The school year will include 36 weeks of courses and a total of 176 working days.

The courses for the 2013-2014 school year will start on September 16, 2013 and will end in June 20, 2014, with the exception of the eighth and twelfth classes, which will finish the studies a little earlier, as follows:

  • 8th grades: the courses end after 35 weeks, as the last week is dedicated to national assessment; students will complete the courses on June 13, 2014;
  • XII classes: the school year has a total of 37 weeks, but only 33 will be for courses; the other 4 will be dedicated to the baccalaureate examination; the situation of the school year ends, for the students of the terminal classes in the secondary education, on May 30, 2014.

The distribution of semesters and student vacations in the 2013-2014 school year

The following school year will be divided into 2 semesters and 4 vacancies, which will be carried out as follows:

Semester 1 (September 16, 2013 - January 31, 2014)

Courses: September 16, 2013 - December 20, 2013

Holidays: November 2 - 10, 2013, only for classes in primary education and for groups in pre-school education

Winter holidays: December 21, 2013 - January 5, 2014

Courses: January 6, 2014 - January 31, 2014

Intersemestrial vacancy

February 1, 2014 - February 9, 2014

2nd semester (February 10, 2014 - June 20, 2014)

Courses: February 10, 2014 - April 11, 2014

School Week Otherwise: April 7-11, 2014

Spring vacation: April 12, 2014 - April 22, 2014

Courses: April 23, 2014 - June 20, 2014

Summer vacation

June 21, 2014 - September 14, 2014

The national theses for the first semester will be scheduled until December 20, 2013, and those of the second semester, until May 23, 2014. An important novelty in the structure of the following school year is that students earn an extra day off, in on the April 22, 2014, on the second day of Easter.
